Body

Sony a7R II Full-Frame Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera, Body Only (Black) (ILCE7RM2/B) I shot Canon for years, but I have no regrets switching to Sony. The smaller body, focus peaking, and an amazing sensor only have me wishing I did it sooner.

Lenses

Sony SEL90M28G FE 90mm f/2.8-22 Macro G OSS Standard-Prime Lens for Mirrorless Cameras. This is my go to lens and what I shoot the majority of my photos with.

Carl Zeiss Batis 40mm F/2.0 Lens for Sony E Mount Most likely the second lens I reach for in my bag. This close focus lens gives me macro working distances for wide shots.

Zeiss 135mm f/2.8 Batis Series Lens for Sony Full Frame E-Mount NEX Cameras When an animal is particularly dangerous, it’s important to have a good telephoto lens. The relatively short focusing distance and long focal length makes this my first choice.

Zeiss Batis 85mm f/1.8 Lens for Sony E Mount I don’t use this lens often, but 85mm is such a classic portrait lens look I like having one on hand.

Lights

Profoto D2 Duo 500/500 AirTTL 2-Light Kit When working with animals, a short flash duration is what really helps stop motion for sharp images. These are the fastest lights you can get and are worth every penny.

Profoto Air Remote TTL-S Just like your TV, the Profoto lights need a remote.

Neewer 24x24inch/60x60cm Acrylic White & Black Reflective Display Table Background Boards for Product Table Top Photography Shooting “How do you get a reflection in your photos?” Acrylic sheets are my go to. Much sharper reflections than you get on glass and like the backdrops, they won’t break the bank when an animal inevitably destroys it.
